The beginning of our board is the year 1867.
Though we want to keep the world realistic, I'm playing by the rules of the romanticized westerns. Revolvers and other guns weren't great firearms, they missed often. Our characters will be able to develop the accuracy we've come to love in our ridiculous western badasses.
Civil rights are basically non-existent in the real world, but there's some leeway. Is the guy at the bar going to be a racist sexist? Probably, but that doesn't mean your character can't do something a white male character can do, like where they work or buy ammo.
You can only start out with skills that make sense for your character.
There's still tension between states after the civil war.
